Background
The services provided by IDCs and ISPs include not
only dedicated lines but also colocation, server hosting, application
lease and security service among others. The IDCs and ISPs who want
to apply an ESM like SPiDER-1 are often providing value-added services
regarding security systems or infrastructure (firewall, IDS, server
security system, VPN, etc.) to their customers.
The
increasingly diverse and cunning hacking methods called for an integrated
security management structure in order to provide their customers
with reliable service on the corporate level, because a separate
security system designed for each team (dedicated line, server hosting
business, security service team) in the company was judged to be
unable to prevent hacking attacks effectively.
This sector
felt the necessity for an ESM such as SPiDER-1, because the system
environments of their clients are different. And SPiDER-1 is not
confined to certain types of systems but has the capability of encompassing
various kinds of security solutions. Especially helpful in the management
of remote clients was the SPiDER-1 feature of the Console that applies
consistently security policies to all systems.
Description
The basic structure is based on a WAN architecture
for external service centered on an integrated security control
system for integrated management of all security solutions. Furthermore,
it is possible to manage the logs of each client individually, and
if required, it is also possible that the client company himself
monitors their system status.

Result
With the implementation of SPiDER-1, much of the system
management has been simplified and the overall efficiency of the
individual security systems has increased.
It was also possible
to set up a systematic response and analysis system through the
real-time monitoring of each individual security solution and the
regular reports with the statistical data about the logs. In addition,
the real-time correlated analysis of events taking place in each
of the security solutions helps to prevent security accidents quickly
by blocking risk factors. This mechanism will help to overcome network
vulnerabilities and can be later on used as reference data when
deploying a solution or expanding the network.
